KELLIE MCCOURT
Creator of addictive, enthralling, funny, flawed, bad-arse characters and murder mysteries.
Author * Journalist * Speaker * Scriptwriter

KELLIE'S STORY
Kellie was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. She excelled in zero sports but was on a first name basis with the local librarians. Kellie tried law school but frankly couldn't resist the philosophy and poetry books in the UWA library. So she left UWA and took up Journalism and Creative Writing at Curtin.
After graduation, Kellie worked in London, then backpacked around Europe. She returned to Perth and quickly became a well-known print journalist and fashion editor. She then moved into television as a reporter on Channel 9. In her 20s, Kellie moved to Sydney after being offered a presenting role on Bright Ideas at Network Ten.
Kellie took a hiatus to have kids (and foolishly thought being a mother was a job with an end date). Kellie was soon back at work as a scriptwriter at the Health Television Network (HTN). She later became the host of the Aged Care Channel and the head writer at HTN.
Kellie is an avid murder mystery fan but was frustrated by the way women were portrayed - as victims of sexual violence, with little agency or diversity. So, she wrote the book she wanted to read.
Heiress On Fire was published by HarperCollins in 2021.
In 2022 Heiress On Fire won a coveted place at Adaptable and was a Davitt Award finalist, and Kellie's second book, Murder Most Fancy, was published. To help transition Heiress On Fire from book to screen, Kellie completed the Creating a TV Series course at AFTRS.
Of late, Kellie has been writing and editing her latest novel, a social-commentary, murder mystery, entitled, We The Addicted .
Kellie's books are repped for film and TV by Bold Type.

"A wild and rollicking ride through Sydney's celebrity culture, accessorised with a marvellous murder mystery."
